HOT NEW TREND

Succulents are the HOT TICKET this year in gardening. I think people are discovering that in these hot extremely dry summers we have been having, these plants do wonderfully.
The pots above were for sale at a recent garden expo-for around sixty dollars or so.You can buy all the plants for these pots for under twenty dollars at Wally World or Lowe's. So I put together a couple of pots for my deck.
Even with buying two new pots and plants I spent right at twenty dollars. Mine are not as thickly planted-and for a reason-these plants grow and multiply VERY quickly-they fill up a pot in no time.
I hope you will give succulents a try-they need very little water or care and can take full sun.I am joining Marty for Tabletop Tuesday at http://www.astrollthrulife.blogspot.com

SINGING THE BLUES

As I was walking around my yard I noticed how many blue items I have. I love cobalt blue and haint blue as we call it in the South.

Blue trimmed bird houses and bottle trees to catch evil spirits.

Blue gazing balls and a haint blue table for the bird to sit on.Repainted Jackson and Perkins wall vaseshold variegated St. Augustine grass and yellow moss. I am joining http://www.smilingsally.blogspot.com for Blue Monday and http://www.fishtailcottage.blogspot.com  for Cottage Flora Thursday.

GARDEN SHOTS

I thought I would share a few random shots from my garden today. We have been getting wonderfull rains and cooler temps, so things are looking better.Look closely at the top photo-see the fly? He was soon to be lunch for the little fellow in the bottom photo.
Love the blooms on this hibiscus. They are usually about the size of a large salad plate, but were smaller this year-probably due to the extreme drought and high temps we had earlier. LET'S GO TO A PAINT PARTY

It's time for Debbie's big Paint Party at http://www.debbie-debbiedoos.blogspot.com  Now I will admit I haven't been doing to much painting, our temps have been in the 100's for three weeks!I did manage to get a few things done, mainly by going out at 5:30 in the morning!Of course in this heat it was dry by 5:35!LOL! This is a birdhouse that I bought and while I loved it, I just couldn't leave well enough alone.
A coat of paint and a few embellishments and it's a whole different look.
This was just an old chair I bought with the idea to use it in my garden somewhere. I decided to do something fun with it. You know the joke is that we eat Moon Pies in the South-it's a kind of cookie. Now I tried one, but they are not for me, but I thought it would be cute to paint one on this chair. I keep it in my garden house-usually with a plant sitting on it.Now go on by the party to get some more ideas-I will be filing them away for when it's cooler-probably about November her in my part of the South!!
