LET'S GO SHOPPING

I found the Annie Sloan store in our area. Of course it was after hours when I happened by, so I can't wait to go back.
They have painting classes here, so that would be fun!
A design store down the street-looks like a great place to browse for new ideas. And when I get tired checking out these places I can go to the drugstore where scenes from The Help was filmed and get a pimento cheese sandwich and a glass of sweet tea to restore/fortify myself. Wish you were here to go with me.

MORE BEAUTIFUL PILGRIMAGE PHOTOS AND A SURPRISE

As promised today I am sharing more from the Carrollton Pilgrimage. I told you I would be sharing a photo of one of the extras from the movie The Help, and here she is. Isn't she the cutest little thing? And she was so sweet and gave us a personal tour of her home. And guess what that is she is holding-yes it is Abiline's tea kettle from the movie! After the movie there was a huge sale, where the movie props were sold. She also bought that white pot behind her. Wouldn't that have been a great sale to go too!
This is her in period costume in her kitchen. Notice the screen door on the left, that goes into her pantry.

This is the hall. Notice the board and batten walls. She peeled off the old wall paper that was in tatters and there was cheesecloth umderneath. Of course strings of it are still clinging like cobwebs in places-she said it was driving her crazy. Every time she walks down the hall she is picking at it. I think the wood is beautiful and I would probably leave it as is-minus the strings of course! Love this staircase, very unusual. As you can see they are still working on this home and will be for some time. They bought this house at auction and worked on it for almost three years just to get it to where it is now. It will take time, but they will have a wonderful home when they are through. The house is called the Bennett House, or the Doll House. I think the last owner collected dolls. The home was built in1901.
I hope you enjoyed this I still have more fabulous homes to share. I am joining http://www.savvysouthernstyle.blogspot.com  for Wow Us Wednesday.

Todays shadow shot is of the freestanding library on the grounds of Cotesworth in Carrollton, Ms. The library was built in1887. The building has six sides and the floorboards inside run from the six sides and meet in the center. The tall bookshelves all radiate toward the center of the building and are filled with Congressional records from the sixteen years J.Z.George spent in the United States Senate as well as classic novels and law books. The desk still has items and papers used by the Senator.Senator George was the primary author of the 1890 Mississippi Constitution.
