Every year Mississipp has the Dixie National Rodeo . People travel in old time wagon trains from vsrious parts of Ms. to the state fair grounds to this event. This is not something I would do-as it is usually pretty chilly in February. Also I am not a roughing it kind of girl. It is always fun to see the wagon trains traveling thru though.I spotted this group stopped for lunch.
Can you imagine traveling down todays busy highways in these? The horses must be trained really well. It takes days or maybe weeks for some to get to their destination. They stop and camp every night. I imagine they are only traveling just a few hours a day. There was a terrible tragedy several years ago. While camping for the night, a young couple died of carbon monoxide poisoning thru a faulty heat source in their wagon. They left several small children. So sad.
They take their bathrooms with them! My hats are of to these people for remembering the old ways!
