It will be 7 years this year since Hurricane Katrina hit our Gulf Coast. There was so much devestation, and I was so sad on my visit last week to see that there is still much to do. My husband says it took twenty years to come back after Camille, though.
This was the only work I saw, but I am sure there was more. There are still lots of empty lots where homes used to be,especially facing the beach and the Gulf. These have been built back facing the beach, though. The beaches are beautiful, after the oil spill-another disaster that hit our Coast.Shrimping is back in full swing though. I do hope you get to visit our Coast one day.

My son sees your coast frequently since he works in MS (all over the state), but I don't think I've been there in about 10 years - when I last visited Biloxi.
Yes, it is sad to see the devastation after one of those hurricanes!!! I don't see how they have the heart to build back. Great pictures!
Enjoyed seeing these pictures. Hard to believe it's been 7 years. I was down there a couple of years ago and was amazed how devastated and empty it was still. Very sad.
Wow, the years fly by. I have never been to your coast. I hope to one day. Glad to see the shrimping is back.
I need to go visit my SIL and then drive on down to your coast. Love the white sand. Makes me realize I do need a "REAL" vacation, however being the main care giver for my MIL it has been over eight years since Prince and I have had a real vacation. We do get to run off to the cabin at the lake at least maybe 3 times each summer. Now that my SIL is retired we might make it 4 times this year. LOL
As for the Dollar Store, I love going in to see what they have new. Peace
I watching a piece about this on our local news. My son's company sent him down to the area a few month post Katrina and got to see everything close up (he's an enviromental scientist). Thanks for reminding all of us about this story and let's hope for a full recovery of the area.
