SPRING CLEANING HAS BEGUN

I have recently discovered a very nice resale shop in our area. I have been cleaning out stuff that I never use any more and taking it here. So far I have been pleased with the money-my "slush fund" is growing. LOL! I can not beleive the stuff I have stuck back that I am not using, man I can get so organized if I get rid of this stuff!
I like how this shop has little areas set up like rooms. So far I have been very good about not buying too much stuff-of course a few books here and there and a fabulous painting by a famous Ms. artist-for a steal I might add. Of course I think of that purchase as an investment.
Very nice china cabinet, but the price was a little high compared to the prices of the other items-still a good piec, though. I have promised myself, no more buying unless I really love it-or need it. I have realized that my two boys could care less about my stuff and my daughter in law is not the type to collect stuff. So why should I leave all this mess for them to clean up? Of course I hope that won't be for a long time! Anyway I got to thinking that I do like money in the bank-so the cleaning has begun. Of course I have given lot's of stuff to charity and passed things to friends that I know like or need something-that makes me feel real good. We all probably have stuff we could get rid of and until I started doing it, I never knew how much  lighter and free I feel with not having to clean around all of this stuff. Now I am focused on getting rid of all of these clothes that I never wear-do you wear the same thing all of the time-even though stuff is falling out of the closet!?

I am so of like mind. I have really cleaned out my cloths closets. I need to dig much deeper into some other storage areas. I have been dealing with all my in laws stuff, and three kids as they move around and dumb things in our garage. I am after a simpler life style which means less stuff!

How nice that you are getting organized. The reason we opened a booth in a resale shop is so we can get rid of a lot of things we don't use. The problem is I keep buying, lol...Christine

I love thrift shops like this one...where things are set up nicely. I don't like to dig for things I might like! Maybe I am lazy!! ;-D

Keep up the good work organizing!

Jane

Oh my, you're doing what I need to do. I have SO. Much. Stuff! It's unreal.

I retire in three weeks, and hope to get started on thinning out all this stuff, including my closet.

Hope your weekend is great!

Oh I so understand. I have been cleaning and giving away for the last two years. Still a ton to give away or purge. Hugs, Marty

I have the "I can't get rid of that, I might need it one day". It's my downfall. I really need to get past it so I can clear the clutter too :)

I hope for lightening the shelves and cupboards and closets and expecially THE ROOM (of Doom).

Glad you're feeling so much better and are out and about.

Wow! What a concept to sell some of my stuff and get money for it... Clever. I just seem to be collecting. Also, if you would put (tape) a note on the back of your furniture with how much you paid for it then in the future it will give who ever is left with it an idea of it's value. Better still add a handwritten note about why you purchased this (or how it came to be in your possession) and your loved ones will have a memory of you. You never know what someone will want/do in the future. I would love to have notes from the past. Happy Saturday.
