Tragedy in Haiti

Such a terrible tragedy these people have suffered. I was just watching Anderson Cooper and there is one thing I don't understand, though. There were people running and parading and singing and praying in the street. Now I believe in prayer, don't have any objection to that, but instead of running around singing they could have been helping to dig people out- and singing if they wanted to. Does that sound mean of me? People are dying under the rubble, why aren't their fellow countrymen helping them? Maybe I just don't understand the culture? I will remember them all in my prayers tonight.
