DAY OF THE DEAD

How about a cemetery tour today-it is the Day of the Dead on Monday. These photos were taken in Louisiana in the town I once lived in. I loved going by the cemetery at night and seeing the candles burning and people out visiting the graves. I felt like the dead people enjoyed not being lonely on that one night of the year.Beautiful angels.

This person must have loved his dog-or maybe he was a rabbit hunter? I know visiting cemeteries is not for everybody, but I love it. To me it is so beautiful and peaceful in the old ones.

  1. I know it is not for everyone, but I love going to old cemetaries as well. I don't know about going at night now, your braver than I am!

  3. I don't mind driving by them in the evening, walking thru in the daylight. Some of your cemeteries are spectacular in LA, a sight to behold. RIP all the souls.

    Have a BOO-T-ful Halloween.

  5. I'm sure a cemetary is the last place you'll catch me at during the night.

  8. I like the old grave yards with stones and artifacts. I am aware that the flat marker give the grounds keepers less hassle but they are so generic. I liked the large angel. I agree it is Peaceful to walk among those who were once here. Peace

  9. I like the angel statues in the cementary. I purchased some cards with different angels on them and some looks like what is in that cementary

I sort of like walking through old cementaries and reading the stones . Some date back to 1700-1800 in one of the cementaries here

thanks for coming over to visit

  10. Cemeteries during daylight hours, maybe; at night, never! I grew up in a town in LA. Do you mind me asking what town you lived in? Thanks for visiting my blog in the mist of all your activities.

  11. Oh, I love old cemeteries. I find them very peaceful. There's one really old cemetery in town and they have the best headstones. Very ornate compared to what people do nowadays.
