VINTAGE THINGY

I am linking to http://www.coloradolady.blogspot.com for her Vintage Thursday. These are old egg beaters. The one on the right was my mothers. When I was a child she used this, even though she had a wonderful big mixer on a stand. To me it was like magic to watch her make fluffy cloud looking meringue out of slimy raw egg whites.Of course then I did not realize how much work was involved! The one on the left was my grandmothers, I never saw her use it- her main dessert was pound cakes. She made the best pound cakes- I should have showed you her pound cake pan-it is old and dented, but I still use it!

  1. Oh those pound cakes. I miss my grandma's. Maybe if I start using some of my vintage kitchen gadgets mine will taste like theirs!

  2. Those are really neat looking. If I saw them in a shop I'm not sure I would have known what they were.

  4. My mother never had an electric mixer. She used things and was the best cook ever.

  8. Very charming. My grandmother just passed away and the one thing I wanted was her old dented measuring cup that we always made divinity with. It's in my cupboard. That generation knew how to bake, didn't they?
